This wine , the Spreitzer Oestricher Lenchen 2003 Kabinett recently bought in Ft. Wayne was in perfect condition, especially considering the hot vintage, I had my doubts. Light straw in color with a nose and palate of citrus and apple, the sweetness was pronounced but had great acidity and a slight spritzyness. Cork came out in pieces and should have known to use an ah-so. I'll try to remember with my remaining older Germans. Lovely wine with pesto.

That cork should not have crumbled. I'm opening wines from the late '80s with standard corkscrews/Screwpulls with no problems.

I don't have any trouble with the Germans' wine corks, either. I don't understand how those scrawny little things manage to last so long.
