Two of the wines we had last night at BacchusBadBoys:
1. Carlisle PetiteSirah DryCreekVlly (14.3%; 75 cs) 1998: Very dark color w/ no bricking; very strong blackberry/boysenberry/PS/huge fruit some licorice/peppery/smokey bit dusty/OV light pencilly/toasty/oak/smokey slight developed/complex nose; soft some hard/tannic very strong blackberry/boysenberry/PS/licorice/peppery light toasty/pencilly/oak some dusty/OV flavor w/ some hard/structured tannins; long very strong blackberry/boysenberry/PS/peppery/pungent/licorice bit dusty/earthy/OV some pencilly/toasty/oak finish w/ big/hard tannins; a big/structured/monolithic/big fruit PS developing at a glacial pace.

LeonettiCllrs Select WallaWallaVlly RTW (13%) 1992: Med.color w/ slight bricking; very strong smokey/charred/burnt/oak/toasty strong blackcurranty/Cab nose w/ not much complexity or development; soft/rich/lush/powerful very strong toasty/charred/burnt/oak strong blackcurranty/Cab/licorice some earthy flavor w/ smooth/polished tannins; very long intense smokey/charred/oak/toasty/burnt strong blackcurranty/Cab bit earthy finish w/ smooth/gentle tannins; dominated by the charred oak & fruit but not much complexity.

A wee BP:
1. Carlisle: Followed 'em from the very start. I recall this PS coming from Unti and/or RayTeldeschi vnyds. At 15 yrs of age, it is not showing a whole lot of evolution yet & evolving at a glacial pace. I have no idea if it'll ever evolve into a Ridge YorkCreek '71 or not, but one can only hope.
