WTN: 1998 Grand Puy Lacoste
Posted: Fri Oct 18, 2013 6:10 pmOpened a bottle last night wanting to compare it with another bottle opened about three months ago that I found a bit wan. Decanted for an hour and a half, served with a vegetarian dinner of baked potato and arugula salad. This was a better bottle than the last but still slightly disappointing and a notch or two lesser than the perfect bottles we opened (all from the same source) about two-three years ago. Very enjoyable, with tobacco a prominent feature at the moment along with some cedar and slightly faded fruit. Unless this wine is napping with one eye open, it has crested the peak.
