1999 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (9/26/2013)
The immediate impression upon opening this wine was one of absolute purity. It was only medium weight, and for quite a while showed some leather/earth elements and not too much else. The big draw was the mouthfeel, which was silky and refreshing. About 90 minutes later the fireworks went off. The fruit came out, and the wine gained depth without any addtional weight. It became a lovely expression of an elegant Burgundy. I won't call it a "great" wine, but it was a complete wine.
