WTN: Placet 2005

Bodegas Palacios Remondo, Rioja.

100 per cent Viura.

A fascinating wine.

Rich pear and gentle spice on the nose.

Fairly viscous, pear, gentle lemon, peppery, spicy, good acidity, good structure and intensity.

Some grapefruit-rind bitterness on the long finish.

A very impressive wine. Reminds me of an unoaked Chardonnay.

Purchased for $23.95 Canadian.

Sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever managed to find an unoaked Viura! The ones imported here have all been made by lumberjacks.

I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.
