2004 Weingut Spreitzer Oestricher Lenchen Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheingau (8/23/2013)
It's now clear that the one thing this wine needed was several years of age. On release it was overblown and virtually undrinkable. A few years later it had toned down to the point where it was an acceoptable, but unexciting drink. Last night it finally emerged as a filgree, lightly sweet, long and refreshing modern kabinett. It's still more a spatlese in weight, but classical spatlese, so very nice with food. There's some very nice mineral elements on the finish as well. Of course this was my last bottle.
