Flat, fruitless and boring. There was nothing here to grab onto. No sense in drinking more than about half a glass. An hour+ of air did no good.

2011 Jean Foillard Morgon Cuvée Corcelette - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon (8/8/2013)
Bright (!!), fresh fruit and a deep earthiness. It's more than a little tight, but there's plenty of depth, so it encourages patience. Very nice if not the most open Gamay.

I've had that same comparative trumping happen many times. But, I think one of the keys to enjoying red Burgundy is not thinking about what other pleasures could have been obtained for the same money!

Foillard trumping almost anything doesn't surprise me.
I really like some Potel wines, others less, but all seem to definitely have grumpy periods as well.
