With Tacos tonight I opened a 2011 Casarena Reserva Sinergy. It is a Bordeaux blend of 70% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Verdot. This is a coal black wine with huge potential, consumed way to early as a first from a case to evaluate. Lots of black current and given some air a note of limestone but the tannins are a bit strong. After 1.5 hrs. it came together a lot and the tannins receded a bit but the rest of this case will be put aside for at least a few years. As I sip this now there is no astringency on the finish and more minerality shines thru with a touch of mint. Wow, definitely my best Argentine wine so far. I can see this wine aging for 15+ years but mine will never last that long. 14.9% abv and lots of glycerine (legs).
