Tried this wine whilst in KC this week:
1. WhiteWindVnyd&Wnry Talon (12.5%; www.WhiteWindFarms.com) Paola/KS NV: Med.dark color; rather earthy/loamy some herbal/rosemary/vegetal/sage light berry/plummy/tobaccoy slight hybridy/plastic somewhat interesting nose; rather raspy/tannic/metallic/coarse fairly earthy/loamy bit tangy/metallic totally dry slight herbal/sage bit plastic/hybridy/new vinly garbage pail flavor; med.long tangy/metallic/tannic/coarse earthy/loamy light herbal/sage/sagebrush dry dry rough/carse finish w/ light tannins; definitely hybridy but at least dry & better than I expected. $15.00 (Gomers)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Kansas wines I've tried thus far have been a pretty miserable bunch. Oftentimes way too sweet and lacking in character. So I thought I'd try this one w/ very low expectations. It had that distinctive rough/coarse somewhat plastic (as in new vinyl waste baskets) character I associate w/ hybrid reds. But it was far better than I expected and w/ great KC BarBQue (is there any other kind?), it would be a decent quaff as an alternative to beer.
This is, of course, the 2'nd best thing that's ever come out of Paola, KS. The 1'st being, of course, our own blil.
