Dark ruby red. Quite beautiful actually - not the modern purple. The first aromas are of green tobacco, earth and coffee. There's still a toastiness to the wine from the wood, and then dark cassis fruit finally emerges. It's aromatically complex, though still very youthful. The green tobacco might very well put a lot of people off, but I like it very much. I cannot stand green bell peppers (with cilantro my most hated green aromas/flavors), so take that for what it's worth. On the palate the wine still has rough edges, but also plenty of fruit. I do not see this as some legendary Sociando, but rather Sociando as it is. I like it - quite bit. Overall hold for several more years, but impatience has not been a terrible thing in this case.
