Was reminded of this with discussion in breathing thread of Peynaud, the first champion of the Ripeness Uber Alles camp. This actually doesn't seem to be the equivalent of the white Burgundy pox, which seems to be random even within cases. It does align with the fears of some that superhigh ph wines are not optimum for aging, an idea which has been pooh-poohed by the Rolland camp for years.
