WTN: Two w/ Dinner...(short/boring)

We tried these two over the weekend:
1. Ramey Syrah SonomaCoast (14.5%) Healdsburg 2008: Dark color; strong blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah bit cold-climate/peppery/licorice slight herbal/rosemary/thyme light toasty/oak very attractive cold-climate Syrah nose; bit tart strong blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/peppery/cracked black pepper somewhat hard/tannic bit mineral/graphite light toasty/oak flavor; long rather tannic/hard tart strong blackberry/Syrah/cracked black pepper finish; still a young Syrah w/ pretty hard tannins and needs 4-8 yrs yet. $32.00 (AV)

2. Dessilani Caramino Riserva DOC: Fara (CaraminoVnyd; 80% Nebbiolo/10% Bonarda/10% Vespolina; 4 yrs in oak; 13.5%; www.WinesFromBedford.com) 2001: Med.dark color w/ slight bricking; strong earthy/dusty/tarry/Nebb/smokey bit pencilly/aged fairly classic old Nebb bit volatile nose; quite tart fairly tannic/hard/bitey strong earthy/dusty/tarry/Nebb/licorice some complex flavor; long bit aged/pencilly rather earthy/dusty/smokey some tarry/Nebb/licorice rather hard/bitey/tannic slight floral/violets; very nice aged Nebb nose but still pretty hard/bitey/tannic on the palate; I wanted to like this Nebb but it just didn't ring my bell. $34.00 (KK)

Never had a Fara - definitely one my list, however. This is not a DOC that you find every day. Too bad that the Dessilani was a disappointment.

Nope...no wine...doing GrandPa duties this trip. Maybe in a week when I'm back there again.
