WTN: Ryme Vermentino Hers '12...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Apr 23, 2013 6:33 pm

Tried this last night:
1.Ryme Vermentino LasBrisasVnyd/Carneros (Hers; 11.2%) 2012: Light yellow color; very strong perfumed/floral/apple blossoms/Vermentino some R-like/pineapple slight earthy pure Vermentino varietal nose; quite tart very strong floral/fragrant/apple blossoms/pineapple/perfumey slight earthy/stony/mineral/tangy/metallic flavor; very long bright/floral/spicy/apple blossom tart/bright/vibrant/zippy light earthy/stony/metallic finish; a lovely pure expression of Vermentino better than most Tuscan or Sardinian versions; one can imagine sitting on a balcony in Liguria and watching the sun set into the Mediterreanand feeling perfectly happy. $26.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is the Vermentino made by Ryan & Megan Glaab. The grapes come from Frank Mahoney's LasBrisas vnyd, probably the coldest Vermentino vnyd in the world. They make a "Hers" and a "His" Vermentino. "His" is made w/ skin-contact, "Hers" is conventional SS tank fermentation. I always find the "His" a more interesting/complex wine...but the "Hers" just cannot be beat for pure hedonistic Vermentino.

Tom; I don't think Francis' vineyard is the coldest Vermentino planting; Liguria is considerably far North of his vineyards, and right at the coast.
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
