WTN: 2010 Veritable Quandary red blend, Odisea Wine Co., CA
Posted: Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:58 am40% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 16% Graciano, 12% Carignane, 8% Mourvedre, 4% Petite Sirah, 4% Tempranillo. I bought two bottles today after tasting a half glass twice from a wine station in downtown Fayetteville, NC. I will probably include the wine in a fundraiser winetasting at church. Deep ruby color with transparency. Raspberries on the nose. Bright, ripe red berries/cherries on the palate. A little astringent on the finish but very pleasant with a nice grip and soft tannins. Leggy on the glass. Interesting how it tastes of ripe fruit but old vines with layers and complexities from the variety of varieties. I think I taste the Syrah which is the highest percentage grape in the blend. Good QPR at $18.99. I could see pairing this with rabbit or lamb. The wine company seems to specialize in Rhone varieties plus Tempranillo, and some Bordeaux grapes. I looked up more about the wine on the Odisea Wine Company website and some of the grapes are sourced from old vines. That seems to come across in the flavor and texture of the blend.
