Tried this the other night w/ our lemon/honey tart:
1. Heinz Eifel Eiswein Pradikatswein Rheinhessen (9.0%; A,P.Nr.4 907 668 1611; www.WineSellersLtd.com) Romerhof/Trittenheim Winemaker: Anne Eifel-Spohr 2009: Deep golden color; intense grapey/orange/baked apple very strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty/caramel quite complex nose; quite sweet rather tart intense grapey/orangey/passito very strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty big/rich/lush flavor; very long quite sweet tart strong grapey/orangey/baked apple/caramel very strong peachy/apricotty/botrytis some complex finish; should go out another 10-20 yrs; a beautiful TBA at a great price. $21.00/hlf (KK)

A wee BP:
1. Grapes were harvested at 33Brix, just into the TBA-level range. The wine had a very strong botrytis signature that you don't often get in an Eiswein, which suggests the grapes were well up into the Auslese level when they froze. I'm not a big fan of Eiswein (especially the freezer kind), but this spoke more of a TBA than a mere Eiswein.
