Tried last night:
1. Ridge Calif Zin Carmichael/SonomaCnty (4% PS; 14.2%; 48 brls; Bttld: 3/08; Drk: 1/08-1/12-1/13; EB) 2006: Med.dark color w/ slight bricking; strong vanilla/Am.oak/smokey/DraperPerfume light blackberry/raspberry/Zin/RRV bit smokey/licorice rather aromatic/complex classic Ridge Zin nose; soft bit tannic/hard/angular strong Am.oak/vanilla/DraperPerfume some blackberry/Zin/spicy/raspberry fairly attractive flavor; long strong Am.oak/vanilla/DP/smokey some blackberry/raspberry/Zin/spicy finish w/ light tannins; an altogether pleasant classic Ridge Zin that's probably not going to get any better; nice wine but just that. $26.00 (ATP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. After I was so impressed by the '10 Carmichael, I thought I'd try one of my older ones. I had tasted this exactly 4 yrs ago and found it a simple/quotidian Ridge ATP release; dominated by the Ridge winemaking (the DraperPerfume). The wine had clearly improved over the intervening 4 yrs, but had not turned into anything dramatic in the way of an aged Zin. Very nice drinking..but just that.
