2004 Château Margaux

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.5% Merlot, 3.5% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc.
Restrained, pure scent of dark fruit and earth.
Spectacular mouth-feel thanks to tons of super-fine tannins empowering precision, focus, freshness and complexity.
The endless finish is driven by delicate etheral sweetness and white truffles.
I'd love to listen to this wine for hours, it's so rewarding like e.g. listening to Beethoven's piano sonatas. - My personal rating: 96/100.

The wine was served from bottle without decanting. Not sure when the bottle was opened, maybe 1 hour prior to being served.
I've seen many 2004 Bordeaux showing well (at least in my view) at young age: Palmer, Vieux Château Certan, Pavie Macquin, ..

I dropped one of my cellar mate's bottles of this in our walk-in a couple of years back. It smelled wonderful.

I'm still waiting to try the replacement bottle.

Cool. Only tried one of my upper end 04s, Vieux Château Certan, and it was corked Will probably open a Margaux next Feb for my daughters 10th.

I remember that night. Poor Paul was convinced you were joking. I do remember you talking about how great it smelled
