Tried these w/ Susan this weekend:
1. Peay Viognier Estate/SonomaCoast (14.0%; www.PeayVineyard.com) Annapolis 2007: Med.gold color; med.strong pear/Viog rather mineral/stony bit metallic/steely slight nutty/toasted hazelnuts light pencilly/oak lovely/complex nose that whispers of Viognier; rather tart/lean bright/fresh/pear/Viog rather mineral/stony/metallic slight toasted hazelnuts/almondy vibrant/racy/zippy/delicate flavor; long bright/ripe pear/Viog light nutty/toasted hazelnuts some stony/mineral/metallic finish; starting to show some secondary/complex character; a lovely elegant expression of Viognier of a non-DollyParton style.
______________
2. Failla Chard EstateVnyd/SonomaCoast (14.3%; www.FaillaWines.com) 2004: Med.dark gold color; strong toasty/oak/creme brulee/caramel/butterscotch strong melony/Chard/ripe/mango bit smokey/charred/oak nose; rather soft/fat rich/lush strong butterscotch/creme brulee charred/pencilly/toasty/oak intense melony/Chard ripe/pineapple/mango slight mineral/stony flavor; very long soft/fat strong ripe/pineapple/mango/melony/Chard some creme brulee/caramel/butterscotch some toasty/oak/smokey finish; still in good shape w/ little oxidation showing but the ripeness is starting to dominate.
______________
3. Alesia Syrah ChilenoVlly/SonomaCoast (14.1%) 2004: Very dark color w/ little bricking; very intense cold-climate/Syrah/peppery/cracked black pepper bit earthy/spicy very strong blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah very intense cold-climate/Syrah some toasty/charred/oak beautiful/complex nose; very tart intense peppery/cracked black pepper/cold-climate Syrah/green olive tapenade pungent/graphite strong blackberry/blueberry/Syrah some toasted/charred/oak beautiful complex flavor w/ some hard/bitey tannins; very long/lingering strong graphite/pungent/green olive tapenade intense black pepper/cold-climate Syrah very strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry strong toasty/charred/oak slight funky/Rhonish very complex finish w/ some hard tannins; a Syrah that can use a few more yrs but doubt the tannins will ever totally subside; a beautiful/compelling clasic Calif cold-climate Syrah; stunning stuff.

And a wee/tiny BloodyPulpit:
1. Alesia: This is, of course, the label KevinHarvey uses for his wines made from purchased grapes. The pungent character gives it a bit of an ersatz-Rhone character, but it is definitely a Calif cold-climate Syrah. It reminded me some of the Bassetti Syrahs or a more intense TreViti Syrah, maybe some of the old Failla QueSyrah Syrahs. Absolutely compelling Calif Syrah.

Don't know where they are, Brian, but know they're out there somewhere. I think KenZinns' report
on MarinCnty vnyds on www.Grape-Nutz.com would locate them, perhaps.
