2001 Leitz Rudesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling Spatlese

Another terrific 2001 German Riesling. Over the years I've often given my wife Leitz Dragonstone to take to dinner with a group of friends, much to their delight. After a sip tonight, she said "this is different from what you gave me to take to the group." Yes indeed.

Delicious. Still quite sweet, but with excellent balance so comfortable at the dinner table with sauteed salmon fillet. Lots of secondary fruit flavors, good minerality, some brown spices emerging, and just a bit of creaminess. For my taste this is in mid-maturity.
