Tried this last night w/ my steak:
1. Cristom Syrah Estate/Eola-Amity Hills (14.0%; U; www.CristomWines.com) 2005: Dark color w/ little bricking; very intense cracked black pepper/cold-climate/pungent slight volatile strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy bit complex nose; fairly tart very strong/pungent cracked black pepper/cold-climate Syrah strong blackberry/Syrah slight pencilly/oak/toasty flavor w/ light tannins; very long/lingering intense cracked black pepper/pungent/cold-climate Syrah some spicy/blackberry/Syrah rather tart some tannic complex finish; the spicy blackberry/Syrah fruit is starting to fade a bit and the cracked black pepper character is starting to overpower everything else; not sure where this is going to go. $32.00

Me, too, Brian. This wine used to have loads of blackberry/Syrah fruit..plus a strong black pepper component.
But it seems that the black pepper component is now becoming the dominant element, now.
