I’ve been a big fan of wines from the Southern Rhone for many years and always thought Mas des Colines Gigondas was above average and solid wine but nothing to make me go WOW. When I tasted the 2007 upon release I liked it enough to toss some in the cellar. Well, I opened one last night and went WOW! Traditional old world Gigondas with leather, black fruits and spices followed with soft lush earthy notes in the mouth. The 2nd half bottle that was transferred to a 375 is still drinking great tonight.
