WTN: Various younger Germans

2011 Karl Erbes Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese
Moderately sweet, ripe, balanced, with moderate acidity; high on Würzgarten spice, with red berry, apple, and slate notes. Good/very good; a considerable improvement over the 2007 version, in which I thought that the alcohol was too noticeable.
2011 Karl Pfaffmann Walsheimer Silberberg Riesling Spätlese Trocken
Medium to full-bodied, round, ripe, off-dry despite the Trocken designation; acidity is just O.K. Lightly herbal/stony, with apple, peach, and citrus notes. Decent/good.
2011 Reichsrat von Buhl Riesling Kabinett Pfalz “Armand”
Off-dry, medium-bodied, fresh, balanced, with moderate acidity; shows primarily red berry, lime, and mineral notes, with some apple. Good/very good.
2010 Korrell-Johanneshof Weißwein Cuvée Trocken Nahe
Weißurgunder, Silvaner, and Riesling. Medium-bodied, dry, moderately acidic, chalky, lightly round, very tropical, lightly grapy, with peach notes. Good.
2010 von Hövel Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett
Medium-bodied, elegant, focused, off-dry; nicely balanced, with good underlying acidity. Slaty, lightly saline, with green apple and lime notes. Very good+.
2010 Steinmetz Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett Feinherb
Lightly smoky, floral, pear, and talc nose. Off-dry, elegant, well balanced, with bright acidity; lightly round, with peach, pear, and apple flavors, and delicate chalky/saline minerality that becomes a bit more pronounced on the finish. The minerality is more pronounced on Day 2. Excellent.
2010 Sybille Kuntz Riesling Trocken Mosel
Medium-bodied, bone dry, with good underlying acidity; steely, with cooled minerals, and apple/light citrus notes. Good, basic dry Mosel Riesling here.
2008 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett
First time trying a Krötenpfuhl from Dönnhoff. Floral/apple/spice nose. Full-bodied, round, fruity, lightly mineral, with spiced apple/pear notes, and some fennel. Well balanced, finesse-driven, with moderate acidity. Very good/excellent.
2006 Karthäuserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Kabinett
Smoky/petrol-tinged golden fruit nose. Moderately ripe, off-dry, well balanced, with moderate acidity. Lightly herbal, moderately slaty, with baked apple/lightly honeyed/golden raisin/citrus flavors. Very good.
2004 Gunderloch Nackenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Auslese *** (dry style)
Shows quite a lot of petrol for a comparatively young Riesling, along lots of spices, and some ash on the nose. Full-bodied, ripe, barely off-dry, with moderate+ acidity. Displays rather firm minerality, along with pumpkin pie, pear, apricot, honey, and smoke flavors; some peppercorn on the finish. Actually quite autumnal. Very good/excellent.
