Four quick ones

My friend the Kaiser's birthday dinner. Bit of NY Strip, sauteed mixed greens, smashed potatoes, as you do.
2010 Mouton Givry 1er Gru - Young, young, young and wrapped tight. Very nice bright cherry, hint of cedar, and a wee voice saying "I'm too young to die"! I'm going to see if I can get some and sit on it. Brought in by Ansonia Wines for those local to DC and familiar with them. (Kaiser's wine)
2005 d'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz - Big, fruity, bomby, Aussie Shiraz, fancy bottling or no. I really like the d'Arenberg wines and this was very nice. Not sure if it justified the price, though to be fair it could've probably sat a few more years yet. Any syrah spice was hidden by the fruit, but still I didn't mind it.
2010 Geil Sheurebe Kabinett - Boom! This wine absolutely bursts into the room and says "Oh, IT IS ON!". Aroma= is this Riesling? Is it not Rielsing? Oh you'll never know bwa ha hahahaha! Acidy = Zing! Flavor = A loving punch in the face. I am going to get as much of this as I can lay my ever loving hands on.
2002 Weegmüller Haardter Herzog Riesling Auslese - Third Weegmüller I've had from this vintage (all bought from same shop within the past year), third bad cork, third great wine. All three bad corks have been bad in slightly different ways. This one it seemed like the core had rotted out, still the wine was in fine nick. Deep golden color. Very, very slight Rielsingfuel thing. Hints of lemon tea in the nose and taste. Full bodied, desert style Auslese. Nicely refined, certainly after the All Night Party presented by the previous bottle.
