From La Vielle Ferme (the Perrin Brothers).

Syrah (75 per cent), Grenache (25 per cent), cork (zero per cent). I swear, that is the info provided on the back label!!

Very dark purple in the glass.

Very inky, with lots of tart black fruit, blackberries, blueberries (okay, this is an exception) and black cherries, very lean, tart acidity, medium-bodied. The wine quickly closed down and became even harder than it was in the first two glasses, becoming quite tannic and saliva-sucking toward the end.

The wine only cost $10.95 Canadian and, to be honest, at that price point, I have come to expect a more ready-to-drink, forward style of wine.

Live and learn.

UPDATE: With even more time, the wine did become softer and rounder but still quite drying.

Screwcap closure.
