Jaboulet-Isnard ??

by TomHill » Thu Nov 15, 2012 1:52 pm

Back in my early days of buying Rhones up in CO, I used to buy a lot of very reasonably priced Rhones under the Jaboulet-Isnard label. They were exactly look-alikes to the PaulJaboulet label.
They were often referred to as the Jaboulet "2nd label", but I always found the wines to be as good as the regular PaulJaboulet ones. I had also heard it was their "other" made-up label to get around the agreement they had w/ their sole-importer (FrederickWildman??).
Anyone knoow what ever happened to that Jaboulet-Isnard label? When did it go away? And who/what the heck is "Isnard"?
