Did I get screwed? '86 vs. '87 Dunn Howell Mtn Cab

Won a Lot of supposedly two pristine bottles of 1987 Dunn Howell Mtn Cab for $85 each (+ 15% buyers premium). The wine arrived, but one was a pristine looking bottle of the '86 Dunn HM Cab instead of two 87s.

The wine seller won't offer me any mix-up compensation, but they will offer a full refund. Obviously, this isn't a "screwing", but after a bunch of exciting notes on the 87 on this board (which led directly to my bidding), I'm wondering if the '86 is in the same league?

I've had some very nice 86 Cali cabs, but I've no experience with any 80's Dunn's.

Thanks.

86 is a fine bottle also, if stored properly. Have had them both, wouldn't throw either out of my glass. :D

I haven't had the '87, but the '86 is outstanding. I think that you came out just fine.

Hi Patrick
After encouragement from forumites to take a plunge on a bottle of 1986 Dunn Napa Cabernet in Italy (of all places!) I did just that. It sounds like Dunn did just fine with that vintage 8) , but if by any chance the bottles turn out bad, we're now quorate for the formation of an angry mob. I can bring a pitchfork if you can do the flaming torch  First stop Robin's castle up on the hill  I don't think he offered any advice per se, but it's a shame to let a good castle go to waste
regards
Ian
