2001 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese #10
2001 is one of my favourite Mosel vintages.
Tasted from a pristine bottle. Still youthful color. Bubbles from carbon dioxide in the glass. (I had observed this many times with this producer.)
Awesome fragrance immediately after opening: citrus fruits, peach, some saltiness and smoky minerality.
Juicy, fruity, harmonious and refreshing on the palate. Lively but moderate acidity. Prüm-like seductiveness.
Unfortunately getting softer which airing. In my view this makes the wine losing freshness and balance. There's a yogurt-ish fruit character and too much sweetness once the carbon dioxide is gone.
I think this wine is at his peak, I'd drink it up in the next 5-10 years.
After all it's still a solid product. Actually I like the soil notes from Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr very much. I just have difficulties to like this producer's style. To be precise: I adore what this domaine produced up to vintage 1990.

Cheers, Rainer

This didn´t come from your cellar, I hope? I mean, buying post 1990 Haags, I do expect more than that from you, my friend!

Shame you won´t be coming to Rehetobel, a mutual friend might bring a 1999 Lignier Clos de la Roche! 8)

Dear Fredrik, it was a sample bottle I've recently bought from a reliable retailer.
I wanted to try if I could start liking post 1990 Fritz Haags. It didn't work hence my cellar will continue to contain zero bottles of it.

For appropriate assessment of 1999 Lignier Clos de la Roche you need at least one bottle for each active participant. Believe me, it's so painful to have just 10cl of this stuff in your glass.
