Given to us by our cabin mate, the most generous Howie Hart, at this year's MoCool.

Hart Cellars Semi-Dry Cayuga 2011

Color: Pale yellow.

Nose: Wonderful floral and perfume notes with maybe a hint of cotton candy. As it warmed up in the glass the nose continued to intensify.

Taste: Served too cold and was a bit subdued initially. Left in the glass for about 15 minutes a nice citrus flavor with red apple and even a little vegetal sauvignon blanc note came out. Nice hint of sweatness, but not cloying in anyway. Not much acid, but enough to let you know it's there.

Another outstanding effort from Howie. His wines are by far the best home made wines I have ever tasted. His Riesling and Cayugas are a real treat. Wish I had stolen more bottles while Howie was passed out on the couch in the cabin. :)

hehehe - Just a bit more detail. There is 20% Vidal blended into it and it was sweetened with Riesling juice that I froze after pressing. Glad you enjoyed it. For some reason, Cayuga doesn't seem to get much respect, but I've always enjoyed it.

I think Sam was trying to say nice hint of "sweetness" not "sweatiness."

Oops! I'm powerless without spell checker. Though "sweatiness" could be an interesting element... or not.

Thanks for the correction JC.
