Tried this wine this afternoon as I was battling gophers out front:
1. Mystos RedWine Calif (13.5%) V&B by FamiliaNueva/Creston 2010: Med.dark color; rather strong PR Jammy/blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah-like light toasty/vanilla/oak attractive/ripe nose; soft fairly rich/PR jammy/blackberry/Syrah/black cherry/ripe bit spicy some smokey/toasty/oak flavor w/ light tannins; med.long spicy/blackberry/Syrah/black cherry/ripe some PR/jammy finish w/ light tannins; nothing profound but has a nice spicy zest to it and somewhat interesting and quite a nice Syrah (or Zin..or blend) and speaks of jammy/PR terroir and very reasonably priced at $8.00 (TJ)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I browse thru TraderJoe's wine section about every other week to see what's new. Normally, I don't find anything that is of interest. If I see something new, I check the back label to see who the producer is. Usually it is just some hokey made-up name. It the bttlg address is AmericanCanyon or Napa or Ripon, then I'm pretty sure it's another FredFranzia product.
But this label happened to catch my eye. It was a dead-ringer for Kurt's SanLiege label. Almost identical graphics design. Don't know if this is a wine he bulked out or not.
The FamiliaNueva wnry doesn't look to be an actual wnry. They appear to source from PasoRobles. Can't find out anything about the "NewFamily" who bottled this.
But it struck me as a pretty decent Paso Syrah for the price.

I bet if you gave the gophers a couple glasses of that, they'd surrender! :D
