Poppa Nonno is Mike Forchini's sorta kinda Tuscan blend.
I went down to Cucina Paradaiso in Petaluma this evening because I wanted some traditional Italian, and that's about as traditional Northern Italian as it gets. It's good, too.
Poppa Nonno was the bottle I brought to go with, and it was also about as traditional as it gets. And that's a Good Thing (tm).
The wine is brawny, meaty, pretty dark, yet not overwound. You can gulp it if you like, and I did.
It was a perfect fit for caprese followed by veal saltimbocca served with roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts.
Life is good.
