WTN: Beautiful Baby Brunello

Clear black cherry red. Expressive nose of cherries, black berries and purple plums with a slight whiff of oak. Silky smooth cherries on the midpalate with juicy acidity and tangy tannins. Nice medium long finish of cherry fruit and tannic tingles. Beautifully balanced wine.

With food: Excellent match with marinated grilled pork loin. The wine has nice sweet fruit when combined with the pork. Also a nice match with an Italian version of squash dish, which is sauteed shallots, squash medallions, and sun gold cherry tomatoes topped with melted mozzarella cheese in a balsamic vinegar reduction. This dish brings out the fresh acidity and tart cherry fruit in the wine.

Wine: 2010 Rosso di Montalcino, IL Veltro, 14.5% abv
