This wine that Jane (NC Jane) turned me onto, was a brillant very deep straw color but I had no fear that it was over the hill. Full of citrus (mostly lemon) and lots of minerality of the wet stream sandstone (as opposed to chalk) it was a joy to drink with lots of years ahead of it. My last bottle of any of the Montes Alpha 05,06,07 bottlings.

I too have found this wine to be a killer value in several vintages, and so is their Syrah and Cab!

Jim, I don't remember turning you on to that wine and I don't suffer blackouts from drinking. Could it have been someone else or was it just a note I posted and not a person-to-person tasting?
Did a search and found my tasting note from 2007. I was kind of neutral toward this wine but I'm glad you have had enjoyment from it. I'm including an oaked and an unoaked California Chardonnay (and possibly a white Burgundy) in a wine tasting July 21st and will post notes on the results. The unoaked Chardonnay is a Sonoma County wine from Lioco and the oaked Chardonnay is Bridlewood Estate Chardonnay from Monterey County.
