Marsannay Rosé 2010 - Domaine Jean Fournier - Alc.13% - (c.€12), made from organically grown Pinot Noir grapes.
At last we have a few summer days
(ending on Friday
), so I bought a bottle of this famous Burgundian pink. I was hoping, probably misguidedly, for something like that fascinating Rosé des Riceys (see WTN above) but this had a lot less personality.
Colour was very pale with a touch of salmon. The nose was subdued with just a little pretty fruit and minerals perceptible. The palate was quite light and delicate with attractive notes of red fruit with touches of strawberry and cherry, gravelly minerals and some lively acidity; more elegant, less alcoholic and more to my taste than most rosé de Provence but rather understated for robust outdoors food; 15/20+.
