WTN: Saturday night pizza wines

2006 Giacomo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Cascina Francia
Very surprising in its extremely dark color and dark fruit profile. Air was a friend to the wine though, as it gained greater definition, with acidic structure picking up the very rich fruit and giving it lift.

1996 Gianni Voerzio Barolo La Serra
Air, air, air. Cherry fruit, tar and after lots of open time, a lovely floral elelment. Still structured, and still plenty of fruit, so no issues leaving this in the cellar.

2010 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese
Floral, citrus and peach fruit - great acid backbone, and a vivid presence from the very first sip through a long, lingering finish. Delicious.
There behind the glass lies a real blade of grass. Be careful as you pass. Move along. Move along.
