Here's a Chenin-based wine from the Languedoc:

2007 Mas Cal Demoura VDP de l'Hérault “L’Etincelle”
Mostly Chenin Blanc, with small amounts of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, and Petit Manseng. Full-bodied, dry, well balanced, with moderate acidity; rather mineral, with apple, fruitcake, and golden raisin notes. Very good; definitely different.

Well, I am back! Looks like I missed some real CB treats whilst away.

I thought I would resurrect this Focus after the horrible news from the Vouvray area today. Remind all of us of the great CBs from the area.
Why not open a Vouvray this week forumites?

I understand the sentiment, Bob, but given the likely catastrophe of '13 and the possible compromise of '14 in Vouvray, I'm going to hang onto my Chenin to get me through times of short supply.

p.s. I will, however, buy up all the Vouvray from e.g. François Pinon that I can over the next year to try and help their financial situation.

WTN: 2011 Famille Bougrier Vouvray.

SC, 12% alc, $18 Cdn. Not a well-known family but need support like everyone else.

Pale color, nose is floral with typical pear, apple, white stonefruit. Appeals for sure.
Initial entry thought is crisp, off-dry, refreshing, easy to drink style. Apple, pear and melon. Lighter-bodied style with apricot on the finish. So-so acidity, find it rather sweet though. great with roast chicken. Not great but not a bad wine either. Less serious than some of the big names out there.
