Cost For DNA Varietal Typing..?????

by TomHill » Tue Oct 10, 2006 1:56 pm

I'm working on an article about a local Pinot vnyd who traces its lineage back to Bishop Lamy about 1870 or so (be assured....well before my time. I did NOT follow Bishop Lamy from the very start). We know he brought cuttings back from his trips home to France.
The vine is alleged to be Pinot (doesn't match Bishop Lamy's origins in the Auvergne, but he was known to have good friends in Burgundy) but has never been DNA typed.
Any ballpark figures on what it costs to verify by DNA that the vine is, indeed, PinotNoir??

Hi Tom,
Check this web-site out, hope they still provide this service. (Back in 2002 this service cost $300 @ vine).
