1999 Chapoutier St Joseph Les Granits

Classic ripe nose. Can’t get enough. Brambly fruits lying on an oak box filled with minerals. The wine is a big baby right now. The fruit is starting to mingle with the wood really well. There is a lot going on but everything is nice and laid back. This is a great wine and should get better and better.

Cheers,
Jason

Glad you liked it. Do you know if Les Granits is a vineyard or a cuvee?

I believe it is a cuvee. IIRC

Jason - I had a bottle of this in April and thought it was an oaky mess. The '95 LG was much better and balanced. IMHO the LG Blancs are the real beauties. A recent '98 LG Blanc was nothing short of brillant.

I didn't find the oak out of balance on this...although it would not be for the oak adverse. I have not had the Blanc. I will track some down.
