Summer has ended. :( Sunshine in a glass is needed: Riesling! :)

  • 2003 Karthäuserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer, Ruwer (9/6/2006)
AP 3 561 303-33-04; 9,5% abv. Very fruity nose, but that doesn't obliterate the true Riesling aromas and the note of steel that I so often find with Ruwers. The palate is pleasant, but lacks a bit in definition though it is more obviously acidic than most other 2003s I've tried. There is a slight hollowness to the palate, but the aftertaste is long and mineral. Pretty decent stuff, but I'd gladly take another vintage instead.
