2005 C&P Breton Bourgueil "Franc de Pied"
Nice ripe, dark savory fruited and a bit blocky on the top, but what makes it a winner is the clear crunchy and pure qualities underneath. Hard not to enjoy the cleanliness (like the dropdead gorgeous tomatoes I sampled today at the farmer's market).
I took this to a modest BYOB in West Philadelphia last week for dining with a former History professor of mine, as I figured he would be interested in the Grand Historical Sweep that produced the living liquid in his glass. But, he told me not to talk about rootstock as he couldn't follow, and he preferred to just swallow with pleasure.
Take that as you will.
