Clare Valley.
Decanted.

Deep, dark purple in the glass.
Lovely nose of cedar, chocolate, cloves and pencil shavings.
Very intense: so much so that the first sip was almost painful. Deep and rich, dusty cherries, very extracted, some beets, medium-weight, cloves, charcoal.
A very long finish.

An amazing wine for only $14.95 Canadian.

Screwcap closure.

Sounds like a good steak wine, Bruce. I haven't bought an Australian Shiraz for years (about seven, I think), so I may try this one.

One to be wary of vintage variation (rare for a relatively high volume wine), though I understand the 2004's are all pretty good. Sounds a bit big, but at the price, I suppose this is viewed as a strong point. I certainly should grab a bottle to see for myself. On form it's reckoned to be able to handle a decade in the cellar.
