Change the rules? I liked the part where you said Ramon and I would win all the prizes. Haha!

In seriousness, I'll be donating another $100 to CARE USA, which I only mention in the hope that it spurs some of the very generous people here to go back in for another round of donations.

I'm really proud of this community. I've always said that wine people are the most generous people in the world. Our hobby in based around enjoying and sharing.

Awww, no! That’s the reason that I joined this raffle.

By the way, I just read a Yahoo news heading, and it said: “Haitians mourn their dead, another survivor found.”

So, we’re at the point where a single survivor found is a victory, amidst 111+ thousand that’s been, so far, confirmed as dead.

I’m glad, in a way, to be a small part of this undertaking.

Dale,
I think that your suggestion sounds perfectly reasonable. Since these indices are basically serving the function of random number generators and there's no correlation (that I'm aware of) between the three indices, I can only see this as a way of speeding the proceedings (fine with me). After all, I've got an HDH auction to attend to next weekend :D

Kind of hard to believe, but with 70 donors, it looks like no winner again:

Prize#2- 6 bottles of Hart Cellars (Howie) wine- your choice across a variety of varieties! (HH)
Dow
10,196.86

Prize #3 Case of ESJ Bone Jolly (SE)
S.&P. 500
1,096.78

Prize #4 Mag of '95 ESJ Durrell (SE)
Nasdaq
2,210.80

I'll let Howie and Steve decide if they want to put prizes back up. Hopefully three winners tomorrow

Prize #5 set of 3 '97 Ridges- Geyserville, Lytton Springs & York Creek Petite Sirah (DB)
Prize #6 4 Tobin James- 06 Cabernet Franc James Gang Reserve, 06 Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah James Gang Reserve,
06 Petite Sirah Black Magic, 07 Zinfandel Liquid Love, Late Harvest (MK)
Prize #7 TJ Dusi Vineyard Zinfandel (CE)

( I made an executive decision it made more sense to send Carl's Tobin James as a separate prize, rather than 2 people having to get to one winner)

Prize #8 '05 ESJ Wylie-Fenaughty (RG)
Prize #9 2001 Napa Cabernet: Karl Lawrence Napa Cab, Wolf Family Vineyards Napa Cab and Lewelling Napa Cab (RC)
Prixe #10- 2 Brunellos- 2003 La Rasina and 2004 Siro Pacenti (PC)

I'm not a great probability guy, but with 70 spots covered, isn't it less than a 1% chance of this going 4 drawings with no winner?

JC just added a great prize, a choice of 3 bottles from a nice selection.

I'm with Matt, time to make another donation to a long term oriented group in honor of all of your generosity.

HI Dale,
It matters not to me, but if you want to put this to bed sooner, wouldn't it be easier to use the numbers drawn in whatever big lottery your state sponsors? (i.e. Powerball or Megamillion) There are 5 or 6 numbers drawn for those, and could be easily accessed by all online, if we knew which one to check. In a week or two, it would be done!
As I said, I'm not in it to win it, so whatever you choose to do is A-ok. Again, let me commend you for initiating this fundraiser; great job!

Seems to me that the longer we wait, the more the prizes grow and the more money we collect for the cause.

Here's to a few weeks of all the major indexes ending in .99.

Most of the lottery games I know of have numbers ranging from 1 to something in the 50s, so a little unfair to the last people who contributed! Using the 3 stock indices, odds are we'll be done in 5 or 6 business days. And maybe we'll get a couple of other donors!

 Didn't realize the numbers stopped in the 50s.
Carry on.

Classic old joke, sure you'll all heard before:
A deeply religious man finds himself in dire financial trouble. He prays earnestly to his God to help him out of his predicament. "God, I'm about to lose my car. Please help me. Let me win the lottery." Lottery night comes, but sadly, Dave is not the winner.

Things go from bad to worse. Without a car to get to work, Dave loses his job. Without a job, his mortgage is foreclosed on, and he loses his home. Without a home, his wife leaves him, taking the kids. After each horrible step in the mounting crisis, he pleads with God to let him win the lottery, but he never does.

Finally, broke, hungry, living on the street, he tries again. "God, please, my life is a wreck. I have no car, no home, no family. Please let me win the lottery just this once so that I can turn my life around. I beseech you." Suddenly, a flash of light rends the sky, and the voice of God echoes down from the heavens. "Dave, meet me halfway. Buy a ticket."

FYI - For those of you who file US income tax returns and itemize deductions, Congress rushed through a bill which was signed into law yesterday allowing you to take a charitable contribution deduction for your Haiti relief earmarked donations on your 2009 tax return, thus giving an immediate tax benefit. Non-filers and/or non-US citizenry on the forums need not pay any attention to it.
