Willamette wine hopping...

Did a little jaunt today. And the winners were - Owen Roe, Shea, Seven of Hearts, Bryce, and Sineann (Peter makes wine for The French Laundry). Two of these places are very small and I have no idea if one is even able to buy them in other parts of the country. Brought home wine from all of them. Bought the 2007 Bryce today - the second to last vintage (she only makes one wine, pinot noir) - and futures on the 2008. Ken Wright will be taking over after that. Seven of Hearts is a very small production vineyard, too. Excellent wines across the board.

I haven't tried a Sineann since perhaps the 2003 or 2004 vintage but my recollection is a more full throttle style of Pinot....more fruit, more extraction, more oak, etc.. Is that still the house style or have there been changes? The wines are available here but I've been passing them by. maybe I should take another look?

I was just thinking about ordering some Sineann Pinot Noir soon as it sounded delightful from descriptions in the latest issue of "Wine Enthusiast." Don't think I've ever had any.

I would, Bill. Peter really makes a lot of different styles of wines. I like just about all his reds. The worst part of the tastings is climbing the two flights of stairs to get to the tasting room.

As I just told Bill, he makes a lot of different styles. I think any imbiber will be able to find something of Peter's they like.

I would think you'd be able to get some of Dick Shea's wines. Some of them can be a little pricey, though. Don't think Seven of Hearts and Bryce travel.
