2006 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernieres 13.0%
I'm glad I didn't taste this and the previous evening's Desvignes Cote du Py as part of a general Beaujolais tasting because it is almost identical. Same serious cherry and iodine aromas, almost medicinal. Perhaps a touch less tannic and bitter, therefore more balanced, but still almost unrecognizable, to me, as Beaujolais, despite the faint strawberry that made a late appearance. Fine but frustrating; not for me. Note to self: Descombes, yes, Desvinges, no. Hmmm, I have to think of some mnemonic so I don't confuse the two. Discombobulated, yes, Divine, no.
