WTN: 2006 Desvignes Morgon Javernieres

2006 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernieres 13.0%
I'm glad I didn't taste this and the previous evening's Desvignes Cote du Py as part of a general Beaujolais tasting because it is almost identical. Same serious cherry and iodine aromas, almost medicinal. Perhaps a touch less tannic and bitter, therefore more balanced, but still almost unrecognizable, to me, as Beaujolais, despite the faint strawberry that made a late appearance. Fine but frustrating; not for me. Note to self: Descombes, yes, Desvinges, no. Hmmm, I have to think of some mnemonic so I don't confuse the two. Discombobulated, yes, Divine, no.

Did it come together with air? (I guess not).

Sorry to hear about these bad experiences. They are only going to make me more reluctant to give Desvignes another shot!

Anyone have positive experiences out there??

Not really, and the leftovers from the previous evening's Cote du Py were basically unaltered.

The two experiences were "bad" only from the point of view of my expectations; I imagine there must be people out there who love this style...
