2000 Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf du Pape

Of course my (ami) vice is wine, and this bottle makes it ever so easy. As with many 2000 CNdPs it's quite open and fleshy, but it's also developing leathery character & the structure is beginning to soften (though it's by no means soft yet). Balance, refreshment and sustained flavor make this a wonderful drink now and likely for quite a while to come.

Nice. Good CdPs seem to be the best candidates for wearing their high alcohol well. Was this 14.0%

Mine says 13.5%, but to be honest it is so well balanced I never even thought about the alcohol.

Glad to hear it's easing up a bit. Had this last fall and it was tight and tannic as hell back then, though showing the depth and balance of a lovely wine.

Good to hear, David. Was this not the wine chosen as the WS #1 WOTY back in '02 or '03? For whatever reason, I couldn't find any to buy and now I regret that loss.

I thought it was the 2001 that led the WS hit parade, but I am not sure.
