WTN: Amazing Hexamer Riesling

2007 Hexamer Schlossböckelheimer In den Felsen Riesling Spätlese
Stunning wine. We opened this with hoisin/sake braised pork shoulder (and Indian spiced quinoa), and it just sang. Yes it's sweet, but the pork can handle it, and actually this wine has much better acid structure than most '07s I have tried. Really delicious stuff, packed with fruit and perfectly balanced. The true testament to this wine's quality is when I poured myself the last of the bottle Laura said "hey I was going to drink that." And so she did.

As a bonus it comes under screw cap.

Sounds excellent - Hexamer has been making some great wines in the last few years. I had a very similar experience with the '05 In Den Felsen Spatlese, which was outstanding and also under screwcap. Looking forward to his 08s, as I'm really excited to see what he does with land in Monzinger Fruhlingsplatzchen. :D

Thanks for the note David. Phil at Bassins has been talking up this producer for a number of years... looks like another postive data point.
