Deep impenetrable purple. Rhonish, dried herbs and later coffee and cream on the nose. Sweet, ripe fruit with a tangy acidity framing the wine. Blackberry, hint of cumin, pencils. Oddly, there's also something that seems to me like peach. Still tannic but some food should take care of that. The finish isn't particularly long but it's good enough.
Fairly complex, balanced and nicely put together, this is an excellent wine that's already enjoyable now if decanted about an hour.
