Bellenda Prosecco

by Orrin Davis » Thu Sep 24, 2009 8:20 pm

Hello: I am an avid reader, but a first time writer/inquirer.
In order to celebrate the coronation of the king last week on Rosh HaShanna, for those believers out there, our family made kiddush on this lovely bubbly kosher Italian wine. Bellenda Prosecco I do not find it upon searching your forum.......We enjoyed it....and I am wondering what you experts out there think of it.
Thank you and Happy New Year to All,
Orrin Davis

I have never had this one Orrin, but want to say welcome to the forum, we do need some new blood. I hope you stay around and talk wine/food with us. It is possible, maybe even likely that Rogov will also stop by to welcome you in a more proper manner.

Orrin, Hi...

Indeed, a warm welcome to the forum.

With re the Bellenda Prosecco, my latest tasting note follows.

Best
Rogov

Bellenda, Prosecco, Extra-Dry, n.v., Veneto, (Kosher Edition): Light golden straw in color, light- to medium-bodied, opening with a floral nose that yields comfortably to aromas and flavors of white peaches, honeydew melon and citrus, all coming together nicely. Sharp, long-lasting bubbles and comfortable note of citrus peel on the finish. A tempting aperitif. Drink now. Score 86. K (Re-tasted 29 Mar 2009)

Orrin, welcome and congrats on your first post. Not familiar with Bellenda, but would you comment on the sweetness here? I'm always looking for ones that have a drier profile.

Definitely has a sweetness to it.....but very dry.

Sorry, I am new at describing wines.

This is not a 'sweet wine'.

Hope this helps.

I think it does--you're saying the wine shows ample fruit on the palate, but is not categorically a 'sweet wine'. I get it, thanks!
