Poll: Average time between wine purchases

With all the talk of our purchasing too much wine I was wondering what the average time is between wine purchases, regardless if it is a single bottle or multiple cases.

Have thought about the poll and have to go with a purchase at least every week. "My name is Walt and I am an obsessed wine buyer".

You left out the "few hours" option. :)

Seriously, while I have made 3-4 purchases in a day, a week seems like average to me.

Foul!

Where's "Every chance I get"? :-)

Seriously, once a week is a fair average.

I was wondering if this was best measured in days or minutes...

I'm not sure how typical I am, since I write for publication and buy 98 percent of the wines I review, but for me, it's a wildly variable pattern that probably works out to an an average of once a week. More specifically, I probably hit one of my primary shops every couple of weeks and buy a mixed case, and visit smaller shops to buy anywhere from one to four bottles at random intervals in between. Now that I think about it, it's probably more like six to eight buying expeditions a month - two or three case purchases and the rest smaller lots - which falls between a couple of your options.

Does it count as four times if you go to four stores in one day?
I mean really, I am doing some serious driving to get to a decent wine shop (150kms)

When I do buy wine, I try to buy at Trader Joe's, Costco, Longs Drugs [no kidding] or Cost Plus so I can get more bang for my buck, so to speak.

Actually not as often as once a month -- more like once every month to three months.

I do go on a splurge about twice a year, driving up to Sonoma County and enjoying the tasting and the countryside.

John,

Ever venture down the coast to Paso Robles/Templeton or Santa Maria/Santa Barbara wine regions?

Some very nice wine to be had in those parts. :)

I haven't been down to Paso Robles for wine, no. It's a bit farther and I don't have family there, as I do in Santa Rosa.

I have been to Lodi a couple of times. Good pickings there, too.

Amador County is, again, a bit far for a day trip.
