WTN: Penmara Five Families Shiraz 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Sep 20, 2009 2:27 pm

Hunter Valley, New South Wales

The story, according to the Internet, is that toward the end of 2000, five family vineyards joined forces to form their own winery.

Dark red in the glass.

An incredible nose: Cedar, fresh-crushed fruit, currants, spicy, chocolate.

Medium bodied, tangy, raspberry, cherry, red currants, somewhat jammy, rich, red licorice, dark chocolate, bright.

Flavourful but not heavy, with enough acidity to keep it from being goopy.

Drying , mouthwatering , with good fruit on the farily long finish.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $13.65 (Canadian).
