Bad news: another winery closes

by Brian K Miller » Wed Sep 16, 2009 6:16 pm

:(

One of my favorite Napa wineries is being liquidated. Havens Cellars is closing, not because of the winery operations themselves, but because the parent company, Billington Imports, lost an account (Catena) which represented 90% of their business.

Sad news, as the crew were good people and I absolutely loved their Hudson Syrah.

Unfortunate - and likely not the end of it.

Keep your nose to the ground - good crew people tend to resurface before very long.

Sad, of course, but this story surfaced several months ago (late Spring) so some of us have already felt the blow.
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...

Yes, I was a wine club member and I visited regularly on bicycle rides because it was such a pleasant place, so I knew the writing was on the wall. I had hoped they would find a buyer or investors.

This was just the "final" email notice.
